Is it still ok to count intake/output calories for food and exercise?

Hey all! I'm 19 weeks 2 days pregnant, expecting a little girl in January. I've ballooned a lot in the last 4 months, and I would like to be healthy for baby Ava and for her to be as healthy as possible. I haven't really been eating healthy or watching what I eat, but today I thought maybe I could start calorie counting with MFP and at least walking more. I'm currently 256, and my maintenance intake is 2450. To lose 2 lbs a week, my intake should be 1450 and you're usually told to add 300-500 more calories if you're pregnant. Would it be ok to just eat 2000 calories a day and maybe burn 200 calories with walking and eat them back if I'm hungry? I want this pregnancy to be as healthy as possible, so if anyone could help that would be great. Thank you so much!

These are all great questions for your doctor.

Yes. During pregnancy, weight questions need to be fielded by your doctor.

Definitely questions for your doctor. I would think that using mfp to log your food would be good to make sure you are eating enough and getting the proper nutrients, but you shouldn't be trying to lose weight while pregnant unless maybe if you are extremely overweight to start and only under doctor supervision. Hood luck with the pregnancy and congrats on baby Ava.

Talk to your doctor to see if they're okay with you losing weight right now
