40+ ladies with 25 or more to lose: How long did it take you?

I'm almost 48 and have been working on losing 25 pounds...30 if I can. So far, I've lost 10 in 3 weeks, but the scale slowed, so I'm thinking that initial was water weight. Between last week and this week (I weigh myself every Monday AM), I didn't lose anything but I lost 1/2" off my waist.

I'm 5'7 and currently weigh 180. Looking to get in the 150s if possible. I have been as thin as the 120s when I was much younger, but that looks skeletal on me. For comparison, the profile pic at left was taken last summer, when I was around 165. Right now, I am eating 1200 calories and not going over that. I am staying far below the recommended carbs, because I feel better the fewer I eat (my downfall was bread and chips and giving myself permission to eat a lot of them of late..I have always not eaten many carbs by choice). I walk for 30-45 minutes at least 3x a week. According to MFP, I am "earning" 150-250 calories with the exercise, and I don't use those as license to eat more.

Up until now, I never had to diet. If anything, I was always underweight. And along with the bad food choices, I am now going through menopause. I should be done with that by next year. After seeing what that's done to friends' bodies, I want to get back into shape NOW.

Anyone in my age group who has lost this amount of weight: how long has it taken you? Any advice above what I already am doing?

I have lost 140 lbs since last March. I am 46 years old. I am sure that the amount of weight that I needed to lose played a part. I can honestly say I did not and do not starve myself. I do exercise daily for at least 45 minutes and I just recently started strength training. Basically I have lost weigh buy reducing what I eat and tracking what i eat.
