Looking for support so I don't fail...again

Every time I start a new weight loss regime I always end up falling off. I don't want to fail this time! I never really had support or anyone to push me in my weight loss journey when I hit a low point or wanted to cheat on my diet. I've had more people tell me to go ahead and have that donut, or 1 slice of cake won't hurt, or you can take a break for 1 day. Well for me that 1 donut turns into a dozen. That slice of cake turns into 5( yes FIVE)! And that 1 day "break" turns into a gluttonous weekend, or week, or month and then I end up feeling horrible about myself again and the cycle restarts itself. Not again! I want to succeed this time! I don't want to give up! I just need a support system to keep me motivated and keep me accountable.

Hello! Perhaps we could help each other. I've been struggling with keeping myself motivated for the past two weeks and could really use an accountability buddy. Perhaps we could check in on each other on here daily for that extra push to stay on track. What do you say?1

You can do it!! It's all about being consistent if you fall off you get back up and do it again. You have to catch yourself and learn to say no sometimes! I always say no to whatever is being thrown in my face at that moment and say to myself, no but I can have that one day. Idk for me that works and it's been working.3

you got this! i feel you on the falling off part. it seems like i would always start a workout program and do great for a few weeks then i would start eating bad foods and then just stop working out again. i would keep repeating the same process over and over again. i guess one day i just got tired of always quitting so i finally restarted insanity and have been going strong for about 5-6 months now! i definitely get the "just one piece" or "just one slice" comments because when i am doing great one day with eating healthy and i eat that 1 donut its hard for me to stop and it will turn into 5 donuts then I'm raiding my pantry and fridge. you just have to stay strong and instead of saying "i can't eat that" to "i don't want that". you just have to remember that its ok to eat that donut here and there or that slice of pizza! we have to eat our favorite foods some times to stay sane.0

First I just want to say that you can do this and you have full control over your success.
Second what you just described is exactly how I was for most of my life.
The true cause of our misery is not 5 slices of cake or a dozen donuts but the way we dieted. Being so restrictive leads to a loss of control and then the shameful guilt compounds it.
In reality is gaining .4 pounds or even 1.5lbs that big of a deal?
No it's not.
A positive mindset is far more important and if a donut is 500 calories a small dose of guilt is 10,000 calories.
This was my typical diet experience, maybe you can relate.
1. I become motivated to lose weight for any number of reasons and I have real hope that this is the time I lose it forever.
2. Early on I'm losing weight, feeling better and getting more motivated.
3. A few weeks in I may become even stricter with my diet and/or workout a bit more because of the "high" and excitement of watching the scale drop.
4. Several weeks in I'm noticing less motivation, less weight change and more hunger/cravings, but I won't give in because "I need to be perfect."
5. A couple more weeks go by and now the scale hasn't moved and I'm feeling miserable.
6. Dieting, cardio and no weight loss equals Hell to me.
7. I'm out with friends they notice my weight-loss which makes me feel good. They want to stop for a late night snack and I plan on just having some water. They order some apps, like chicken fingers that look amazing. My friends say something like "you can have one right?" I say "no I'm fine" but I eventually give in because it feels awkward to not. The chicken finger is both delicious and mentally painful. But now that I had one, I have a second and then some of the garlic bread or chips. The flood gate was opened and I forget my goals and motivation just long enough for me to blow it.
8. Once alone I'm in tears and hate myself. I literally believe I ruined everything. I can't handle a set-back.
9. My weights up, feel I've wasted time, energy and money. Guilt turns loathing and I quit.
End of cycle
This was basically my life's playlist, running on a constant loop for years.
After losing 100+ pounds I know that I was wrong about almost everything.
The problem was never chicken fingers or any type of food. My issue was losing control, feeling guilt and self-loathing. These emotions destroy hope and hope is at the top of the list and is what keeps us going during this long and bumpy journey.
Dieting and losing weight to just eventually gain back is destructive.
Focus on making this work long-term.
Whatever plan or diet you choose, day one should be the same as day 10,000. So if you plan on having ice cream some day in the future then you need to plan on having it on your "diet".
Be In Control and ahead of your "diet cycle" by planning and choosing when you have a donuts and cake. Unless you're done with them forever.
Those people you mention are correct!
Don't let it sneak up on you.
When you "jump off" the wagon you can land on your feet and jump back on but when you "fall off" you risk breaking some bones and not getting back on. This is NOT cheating your diet, that is B.S. to make us feel more guilt.
In conclusion;
You can do it. Be in control. You can eat anything and lose weight. Focus on the long-term. Enjoy the journey.
