Must diets suggest protein and salad.
And it is said eat as much as you want until you re satisfied...!
So, Do you believe that if you eat ex. chicken and salad for lunch and dinner you can eat as much as you want and still lose weight ?
Just asking because they give me a diet like this at a gym... and I am curious if this is true.
They also tell me not to do weight and do only cardio if I want to lose weight.
(FIY I will be going to the gym for one hour strict per day 5 times a week )

Most diets are silly and designed to make you fail.
People say a lot of things that aren't necessarily true or accurate.
You can eat as much as you want of anything and still lose weight, if what you want is an amount that provides you with a calorie deficit. But most people who are overweight, are used to eating more than they need, and like that, or think that that is normal.
Eating the same things for all meals or many times a week, is not good. We need variety to get in sufficient nutrition and not get bored.
Exercise doesn't burn that many calories, but weight training is great for retaining muscle through weight loss.
I would be very skeptical to this gym.1 -
No! That is why this site allows you to count calories. I'm almost never satisfied. I'm constantly hungry so if I had to go by your diet I would never lose weight. Also, you cant live on salad and chicken because your body needs micro nutrients as well. A balanced meal plan within your calorie allowance and macros seems to be the better way to do it in my experience.
Regarding the exercise, yes you will lose weight if you just do cardio but you will also lose muscle mass which is not necessarily a good thing.
If you have the money, see a nutritionist and a personal trainer. Always better to ask the professionals rather than the "bro's" at the gym.1 -
they have for breakfast bread with honey 2 egg and milk for snack 3 fruits , lunch and dinner mostly chicken and salad and as second snack a milk shake (banana, apple, orange, milk, honey, biscuit), --- 5 times this menu(you can change chicken with fish) and two times instead of chicken , LEGUMES with no limit to the amount.0

also 3 times you per week its free you can eat anything you want0
-
Lol, I eat anything I want for every meal.
Do you see yourself happily following this diet for a long time? Let's say, a year?
(Have you paid for this?)0 -
I pay for the gym the diet plan lets say as a gift....not very excited with it thought !0
-
That's some sad gift
Idea - log your food here on MFP, as you're already here. Eat what you like and aim to hit your calorie goal. No tricks or special diets needed.1 -

Umm . . . define "salad." For one person it might mean lots of lettuce, cukes, green peppers, onions, vinegar or lemon juice as dressing and other low calorie ingredients. For others it might mean lots of cheese, bacon bits, nuts, seeds and high calorie dressing. One salad could have 200 calories and another could have 1000 or more.2

No. Unless you are tracking calories in vs: calories out and "eating as much as you want" amounts to eating less calories than you burn. This is how you lose weight, by eating less calories than you burn.0
-
salad : raw vegetables (plants ) this is salad even though I like the second one0
-
Maybe they are saying the salad bar is "open season".. meaning all you eat like a buffet..LOL And perhaps the cardio recommendation is so you sweat lot of water weight thinking you are losing weight eating all this salad?
I do have to say this is a really strange scenrio for losing weight and the exercise recommendations and just tells me that this gym may be run non fitness professionals that do not know what they are talking about..
eta: Out of curiosity, who do they recommend to use weight room???? Any one, NOT trying to lose weight?

I don't think most diets suggest "protein and salad" (i'm assuming you mean chicken and salad). Regardless, neither are necessary for weight loss. So, Do you believe that if you eat ex. chicken and salad for lunch and dinner you can eat as much as you want and still lose weight ?
Of course not. You can't eat an unlimited number of calories and lose weight. You need to eat in a calorie deficit. They also tell me not to do weight and do only cardio if I want to lose weight.
This is not true. Your calorie deficit should come first from your DIET. Cardio is required for a healthy heart, strength training is required for strong bones and lean muscle preservation.1 -

what is weight room?0

aaaa I see in google
I don't have a clue this is what they suggest for obese !0 -
It does depend on your definition of 'as much as you want'. When it comes to chicken breast as much as you want is 3/4 of a medium sized breast for me, and an entire chicken for my husband- and that's obviously a big difference in calories.
As for 'whatever you want' - for me that would be lots and lots of chocolate, which makes it very easy to get a lot of calories in a small amount of food as it's so calorie dense. For my husband - that might be an entire steamed cauliflower with hot sauce. Again, totally different amount of calories.
You need to understand your energy out requirements (including energy used at rest- for body functions) and your energy inputs (foods and drink) and make sure out is always greater than in. That means weighing and measuring and being careful to read labels and choose the correct diary entries (there are some bad one in the database). This is always an approximation- but its the best we have to work with.
Also, as you drop the weight you will need to recalculate your required energy-in calories as the smaller you are the less fuel you need to run.1 -
lol your gym has a terrible diet plan it will not work. you can eat whatever you want if you count calories!1

No, you can not eat as much as you want and lose.
To lose weight you need to eat fewer calories than you burn... you need to eat less than you are eating when you maintain your current weight.
You can eat whatever food you want and lose weight as long as the calories are right.
Many vegetables are lower calorie so you can eat quite a bit of them. They tend to be good choices for filling out your plate as they also provide nutrients and fiber.
Protein, fats and fiber are what tend to make people feel satisfied. It is a good idea to get enough of these to help your body function well too.
If you use My Fitness Pal you will be given a calorie goal, protein goal, etc based on your age, height, weight, activity level. You don't have to guess what is the right amount of food. You don't have to just eat chicken and salad. It is free and it works.
You don't just have to do cardio.
Your gym seems like they give bad advice.0 -
Quantity a/k/a portion size is important. You can eat whatever you want, you just can't eat too much of it. Especially in America, we have no concept about correct portions because we supersize everything.0
-
Don't believe anyone who tells you to do only cardio and not lift weights. I wouldn't listen to another word they said.0
