Fitbit accuracy question

Question about the fitbit. I bought one for about 100$. My question is I was doing a lot of walking one day I did over 2 hours and then I walked on a treadmill for 20 minutes. To tell you the truth I read that 2,000 steps is about a mile or so. I also have another Pedemotor that seems more accurate than what the Fitbit said. The fitbit told me I walked less than what I actually did. I mean if you are walking 140 minutes or so that sounds more than 10,000-13,000 steps. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I thought I remembered seeing something about the average walking speed for a person is about 3mph. So if that's 2k steps (I think stride length plays a lot into this), and you walked over 2 hours, seems about right.

Mine occasionally had synch problems, I'd have to either restart the bluetooth or my phone.

You can adjust your stride length in the app, maybe its off? Its under settings.

Treadmills are tricky if you wear your Fitbit on your wrist, because if you're holding onto the bar, then your wrist remains level and many of your steps aren't counted - like you'll jostle your wrist a bit here and there but it won't move like it does when you're usually walking. Put it in your pocket when you're on the treadmill.
