Step Counters?

hey everyone! I really want a step counter but need some help figuring out which one to get. Here are some specifics:
1) I do NOT have a smart phone I really want one where i can look at everything on a wrist watch type of thing
2) I know i want a step counter not sure about something that tracks other exercise?
3) I am leaning towards something that tracks heart rate too
I have been looking at different ones online for a while now but it seems like EVERY one of them has at least one bad review so not sure what to believe. Any advice would be helpful! Thanks

I have three step counters. Why would I have three? Well the ones you wear on your wrist are not completely accurate if you want to count JUST steps. So I have two I can wear on my wrist (One is the fitbit Charge HR) which I do love, but then I have a good old fashion pedometer. There is always a difference in the number of steps on the fitbit and the pedometer, so I actually go by the number on the pedometer. The fitbit will count any arm movement as a step, even if you are sitting down.0

Wrist-based step counters are nothing more that accelerometers that pick up motion. They will be inaccurate. Fitbit, Garmin, Jawbone, Misfit, Android Wear, iWatch. None of them are going to be 100% gospel truth.
Most of the trackers have a system for syncing your data online through a computer or tablet. None of them require connection to the internet 100% of the time.
Trackers like the Fitbit One, Jawbone up are going to be more accurate due the fact that they attach to your clothing. Typically in the hip area, and will count movement there.
As far as optic heart rate monitors go. All the do is send a green light into your skin, only a few mm deep and look for changes in the color and call it a heart beat. They're going a be inaccurate as well. Skin moisture level, water, sweat, angle, of the sensor, all of the stuff matters.
If your wanting one to wear year round , and exercise with...
If I were in your shoes, pick up a Garmin Vivofit 2, or Garmin Vivofit 3 and a chest mounted ant+ HRM. Use the HRM while you work out. And use the step counter the rest of the time.0
