Are there any vegetarian foods that are more protein-dense than cottage cheese and greek yogurt ...

... besides protein powders?

Seitan has roughly 16 grams of protein per 3 oz serving. I'm not sure how that compares to your dairy, since I don't eat it.

    ... besides protein powders?

Off the top of my head, maybe some of the soy foods: Edamame, edamame/mung pasta, tempeh, dry-roasted soybeans.

I dunno about tofu or fake meat, since I don't normally eat them (or protein powder, for that matter).

Some veggies & fruit have a small amount of protein, and it can be very calorie efficient, but it's usually not complete protein (i.e., lacks some of the essential amino acids). Combining different things can help that, and the small amounts can add up.

Check out the forum thread below. It links to a spreadsheet that lists foods in order by their protein/calorie efficiency - basically, the most protein for the fewest calories. The foods at the top of the spreadsheet are mostly meat/fish, but there are more vegetarian sources as you scroll down. Just pick some things you like from that list, and substitute them for things you're eating now that don't make as good a contribution to your goals.

    Dry Roasted Edamame

I don't know if it's more protein dense than cheese/yogurt but a few handfuls a day would help you in reaching your protein needs. 1/2 cup has almost 30g and it's handy when you're on the go.

hemp seed MOST matches the 8 essential amino acids in meat in one food, AND has 50% of needed magnesium and potassium RDA in one serving, most seeds are higher in protein, and closer to proteins found in meats, comparatively. As a kidney disease patient I can't have meat now, and as a vegetarian I looked for a low carb food that is also better for my weight loss that having beans and rice, etc.

    Crispy fried tofu is lovely.

Don't forget other cheeses - mozzarella (the fresh stuff), halloumi, feta, ricotta- cottage cheese and yoghurt aren't the only high protein options.
