Do whatever exercise are comfortable for you, but weight loss comes from having a calorie deficit

"A knee problem" is incredibly vague!

I've had six significant knee injuries (three serious, two permanent) - what exercise do you think is best or worst for me based on just that information?

Also why do you need to lose 50lbs "in a short time"?

because is winter is near...... and then it would be hard for me to lose weight then.

Even hibernating bears lose weight in winter.

    Calorie deficit...

Find out from a doctor/physio what sort of exercise you can do with your knee.

Seriously young man - to lose weight first you are going to have to lose those excuses.
That's all they are and they will stop you being successful.

Read the sticky threads in the Getting Started forum and work out how you can manage a sustainable and sensible calorie deficit. Think ahead - it might take a year to get on track, you didn't get fat overnight and you won't get slim overnight.

Even for someone like me who exercises a lot it's still the minor player in weight loss / weight management. How much you eat needs to be your focus.

looking forward to it... and m also trying my best at this stage
  • My suggestion along with the correct food intake is low impact excersice. Body weight training, also power yoga or even Pilates offer no jumps or high impact. Almost all workouts have some sort of modification. I have a bad knee as well but overtime I have strenghtened my stabilizer muscles surrounding my knee and I can now do lunges and other forms of exercise that I used to not be able to do. Of course take it slow and listen to your body. But definitely check with your doctor to find out your limitations for exercise and then modify.

I'll give you some background on myself before I give you an answer. I had a double hip replacement last year I have an arthritic knee that needs to be replaced and I have an arthritic shoulder that needs to be replaced.

I started January first weigh-in 288 period end of March winter in New Jersey I lost 30 pounds. My current weight is 208. The simple truth is you don't have to exercise to lose weight. Out of the 80 pounds I lost my estimate maybe 10% was based on exercise and the other seventies pounds was based on eating less calories than my body Burns. The common phrase you'll find here is cic all or calories in calories out. In my honest opinion if you're not a world-class or professional athlete you can't lose enough weight through exercise alone.

I hate to tell you this but it's a simple matter of eating less calories than your body consumes. I lost over half my weight January February March April. I live in New Jersey and it's cold.

The other thing you have to learn is if you want to lose 50 pounds in a short time you're fooling yourself and you're going to get very very frustrated and you're going to quit. What you have to realize is it didn't take you a short amount of time to gain the weight and it's not going to take you a short amount of time to lose the weight. Everything I've read so far that most people who lose the weight in a short amount of time gain it back. Take a realistic approach lose 250 pounds over the next six months don't try to rush it you're just going to screw yourself up good luck in your journey

If you have an injury you need to get advice about exercise from a trained professional - such as a physiotherapist.
