Anxiety

I find that a lot of my bad behaviors come about because I don't have a lot of great ways to cope with anxiety.
How do you keep your anxiety level low and how do you find relief when you feel particularly anxious?

The following help me keep anxiety manageable:
avoid caffeine!
get enough sleep
eat regular meals- eating more protein and less carbs seems to keep me calmer
maintain a regular schedule
exercise every day
meditation or breathing exercises
Also, cognitive behavioral therapy can work wonders if you have specific anxieties.
Good luck to you!2 -

That's a really good observation. I never thought of it exactly that way.
Recognizing it gives you the power to mentally stand aside and wait a few minutes to see if it passes. We are not our feelings and don't have to go with them.
I know I turn to food for something short-term to make myself feel better (and of course, that might last 5 minutes and then make me fat and 10x as unhealthy).
Plan meals ahead of time so I'm not hungry and always have decent food around.
Plan treats -- fruit, sugarless gum, no sweets for me because I can't handle them.
Exercise my anxiety off.
Figure out why I am upset and if I do anything about it.

Ditto to all of this. I have anxiety/sensory issues and one way I cope is by eating. It's purely neurological. Crunching and munching on things helps me to focus. So, crunchy carrots, celery and GUM really helps. I start feeling stressy/overwhelmed and I chew gum. It helps.2 -
Not getting enough sleep heightens my anxiety no matter what's going on. So i have to make sure I get adequate sleep. I started using an air diffuser at night, so my room smells amazing right before I go to sleep.
Sticking with my diet is also super important. I meal prep so that I always have food available.
Make a to do/shopping list - I get stoked when I cross stuff out.
Exercise, even simple walking or yoga. I like nature a lot.
Drink green tea
Reading
Salt baths
I recently started journaling whenever there's something specific that's bothering me or making me anxious. It really helps for letting stuff out in the moment, and then I can process later.2
