Any suggestions for a low sodium diet plan. I'm on fluid pills.. I've changed my eating habits... but can't shake the fluid. I was told to try a low sodium diet. Looking for ideas. Thanks.... feeling truly emotional

I would start by looking at the DASH diet. Not sure if it's for weight loss, so you might need to be careful with portion sizes, but it is low sodium.

Look for the DASH diet(Dietary approaches to stop hypertension). I have found many books in the library on the subject.

I have congestive heart failure and lots of problems with fluid retention because of it. I have lowered my daily intake down to 1500 mg of sodium on the food tracker, because if I go with the recommended daily requirement it's way too much. I don't always hit that goal but I'm usually under 1800 mg at least and it really helps. It's a pain in the rear to have to track everything I put in my mouth but it's effective and that will keep me living a lot longer, so it's worth it. When you start seeing the amount of salt in your food that is there without adding any you will learn what is worth it and what isn't. There is a lot of salt in dairy products, breads and pasteries, canned tomatoes and sauces, even lettuce and fresh veggies has natural salt. The other real culprit is meat and chicken. They add salt solution to them to extend their shelf life and to make them weigh more, and pretty much anything that is canned or pre-made has lots of salt added as a preservative! Good luck and you are welcome to friend me if you just want a buddy that has the same problem!
