edited December 3 in Health and Weight Loss
I started my journey on 20th August and lost 4.3 lbs in two weeks which was an achievement for me. This week started good but today my body begged me not to workout at all so I listened to my body and just took some rest but inside I was not feeling good I thought to check my weight mid week (which I don't do normally) to boost my confidence and for the worst it was 0.6 lbs gain from last week. I'm so disappointed. Is this journey that tough ... I don't wanna give up .... I hate my belly fat

Give yourself a break. You've done great so far. It is perfectly okay to take a day or two off. In addition, it is normal to have a few ups and down with weight. If it is getting close to your period, feeling a bit blah, perhaps a bit weaker, and gaining weight is absolutely normal too.

    Good job so far :)

I agree. Quite being so hard on yourself. Does your scale take into account muscle gain, water retention, monthly cycle etc? No... So, don't stress it. When I started this journey I relied heavily on the scale. It was hard not to get frustrated. Now I know that the number there does not define me, and it doesn't show me what I have done. I've actually gained weight since I started because I am building muscle... and now It doesn't bother me.

Long term (as in months) the scale doesn't lie. Short term, it's a lying scoundrel. I use calories in (and a little bit out) to decide if I've been successful instead. Did I eat just under goal? Did I stay active (taking rest days as needed to avoid injury)? Then I can hold my head high. The scale will catch up eventually. If you can find a way to enjoy the process and concentrate less on short term results you'll have an easier time.

Congratulations on the 3.7 pound loss so far. You are very early in this journey. The way to track progress is to see the trend over time. Not easy this early, is it?

The most common advice is to only weigh once a week. I say go the other direction and weigh every day. Doing that will show you the minor swings that we all experience. Weight loss is not linear. As you move forward you will learn to accept the daily swings and focus on the trend.

    Good luck!
