I find carrying water annoying, so I don't generally bring it with me on runs. I don't feel particularly thirsty afterwards unless it's very hot out. I think the key is that I am well hydrated most of the time, so it's not especially hard on my body to go without for an hour of relatively vigorous activity.

If I were older, or had some other health conditions, or were an elite athlete (😂), I might pay closer attention. But for regular ole me, I'm fine.

(I'm not sure I buy the "if you're thirsty you're already dehydrated!" thing. On one level I'm sure it's true, but how severe are we talking? A little dry mouth? Gasping in a desert? Just like hunger and sleep signals, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot psychologically in play here with how we notice and respond to thirst.)
