When something calls for 3oz of meat, how do you determine it, do you weigh it or put it in a measuring cup? Do I need to buy a weighing station thinggy??

a digital scale would be your best option

Ounces in volume aren't the same as ounce in weight. Typically when you look at a serving size of solid food, they are referring to the weight in ounces or grams. A serving of water/liquid (typically 8 ounces), on the other hand, is in volume - 8 oz = a cup in volume.

I bought a $25 scale off of Amazon.com to weight my food. It works quite well and has ounces, pounds, grams and kilograms.

I got a Taylor $15.49 scale at Target last night that weighs in ounces - this is in WEIGHT, not volume, as accountant_boi was saying. So you can measure DRY foods on it, such as meat, bread, cheese, whatever. You want a measuring CUP for things like sauces, juice, water, milk, etc.

A food scale is best. A 3oz portion of meat is about the size of a deck of cards. That might help until you get a kitchen scale.

my digital scale has a tare weight feature. you can put the plate on first and zero it out and then as you add the meat, it will show you the exact ounces of what you plan to cook/eat.
