Fiber Supplements or Women's Multivitamin with Fiber?

Hey everyone,

I am looking to add more fiber to my diet as I am in need of more. So I have been looking online for supplements or vitamins that would aid me in getting the right amount of fiber I need. I found one "Alive! Ultra Multivitamin", however the reviews are scaring me off from it.

FWIW, IMO, if you need a or want to take supplement for a specific purpose, simpler is better.

If you need a mutlivitamin, pick the one that best meets your nutritional needs out of the many available.

If you need fiber, buy a generic fiber supplement whose main (better, only) ingredient is psyllium.

Don't mix them. You can adjust each as your dietary/health needs change over time.

And, if you want to test the effect of either indepe dent of tge other, you can just stop taking it to see what happens when you do, which is impossible, if you mix them together.

You could consider eating chic peas and black eyed peas as those have fiber.

If you're open to getting your fiber from food and not just supplements there are a few products out there that make it really easy. At least for me they have. I eat Oroweat brand (also known as Arnold and Brownberry in different areas of the US) Double Fiber Bread and English Muffins. The bread is 5g a slice and the muffins are 8g each. I also buy La Tortilla Factory Whole Wheat Low Carb Tortillas which are 12g of fiber each and finally I keep on hand Ronzoni 150 penne and thin spaghetti. They're 150 calories and 13g of fiber per serving.

There are loads of foods that are naturally high in fiber, which, in my opinion, is better than taking a supplement. Eat more things like strawberries, bananas, apples and pears (with skin!), oatmeal, brown rice, legumes are really high in fiber (split peas, lentils, black beans), broccoli, green peas, and Brussels sprouts are just a few examples.

If you need fiber supplement I'd say go with Psyllium husks. Still I believe it's better to try adding some high fiber foods in your diet, like whole wheat pasta, brown rice, oat bran (mix it with your oatmeal or cereal), flaxmeal, legumes etc.

Thank you so much for these suggestions, I will definitely give these foods a try! To be honest, I am not completely familiar with high fiber foods as I have always stuck to the traditional food items. So you've helped me a lot here with where to start off on high fiber foods! :-)
