You need a calorie deficit to loose weight, some may argue Green Tea reduces appetite so you eat fewer calories but that's anecdotal. You can add me if you like :-)0

Nope. A study found that extracts from green tea in very large doses may increase fat burning by a minuscule amount, and all the shills and make a quick buck folk jumped on it and started selling useless pills for large amounts of cash. Green tea is nice, it has antioxidants but its pretty much useless for weight loss, unless you are trading a high calorie drink for it.1

Stop looking for quick fixes. Make permanent lifestyle changes.1

You know what helps you lose weight?
Wait for it....
Be patient....
A calorie deficit. TA DA! That's it. Green Tea and detox drinks and whatever woo based ideas you've heard on Pinterest or blogs do nothing for weight loss.
Set up MFP with your current stats, a reasonable weight loss goal and rate of loss (if 50 lbs or less you should aim for no more than 1 lb/week). MFP will calculate a calorie goal for you. Eat a variety of nutrient dense foods, fitting in treats if you like, logging everything consistently and as accurately as possible (ideally using a food scale). Exercise if you like, eating back a portion of any calories burned.
Keep with that, be patient, and you will see results. The only thing detox drinks and green tea do is make you go to the bathroom.
Oh and spend some time reading the stickied "most helpful posts" at the top of the Getting Started forum section.1 -
Green tea is a calorie-free beverage, but it doesn't "do" anything. It's just a drink.0

I love green tea. I drink it all the time now, and drank it the entire time that I was fat. Never helped me lose any weight unfortunately...the only thing that finally helped with that was changing my dietary habits overall by eating less.0
