Hello,
I have been trying to lose weight since 2/2012. I started at at 381 lbs and was able to get down to 299lbs by 12/2012. This was done through calorie counting from 1700-2000 calories a day along with 4-6 days of 40-60 minutes a day of cardio.
i have eliminated packaged foods for the most part. Still use boxed pasta and some canned veg now and again. Overall I have gone from eating frozen meals and prepared pastas and crap to healthy cooking and portion control.
The part I do not get is over the last 8 months with nothing changing i have gained 30lbs and am back at 329lbs. I can't help but feel like the last 8 months of time spent in the gym were a complete waste of time and effort. This is a committment and I know it takes time to lose weight but I simply can't understand how something that worked to the tune of 82lbs lost suddenly results in the gain of 30.
Any thoughts on what I should be looking at?

Hey, I know how you feel...
I went to weight watchers and lost 50 pounds by following the points system. The only food I would eat was take out. I ate out almost every meal because it knew what the points values would be. When I decided I didn't want to eat take out food anymore and I decided to cook I gained all my weight back plus more.
Making your own meals causes you to portion control for yourself. Which is fine if you can stick to a proper portion. My biggest downfall was thinking it's healthy foods I am cooking, I can eat more. Or I would portion out my dinner and the leftovers would be for my lunch the next day.... ya right if it was yummy I would eat it all and if it was just okay I would think ya no way am I eating this tomorrow I might as well eat it all now.
Our minds likes to play tricks on us all the time... We can't allow it to happen. ! Bring out the digial food scale and use it, use it for everything you eat and one day it will all come together.0
