Orthotics?

I currently am using Dr. Scholl's orthotic shoe inserts. They really help me as far as my knees go. I have the issue of comfort though. If I put these things into my shoes they elevate me a little too much so that my heel is always playing peek-a-boo out of the back of my shoe when I walk. This is very uncomfortable and annoying. So I took out the insole of my shoe and cut it to about my toes so that my heels stay in my shoes. Now that this issue is solves these things just make my feet feel hot and smothered. I feel them wiggling up and down as I take steps, and they don't seem to allow for normal air circulation so my feel feel like they are in an oven. My feet sweat enough as it is. So you can see how this would irritate a person.

So my question is have you used a particular orthotic that is better? Less wiggling and less heat in the shoe? Surely there is a comfortable option out there. I don't want to discontinue use because my knees give me holy hell when I do. But at the same time I can't stand these things much longer.

I need orthotics, as I have hypermobile and utterly knackered joints, but standard inserts for my size have the arch too far back for my deep heels.

I've found more gentle support in gel insoles. I use them in my Camel active knee high boots, which I live in from October-March.

Also Nike trainers. Even their simple darts have some basic arch support and our local Nike store says they're often recommended by podiatrists for fallen arches, even though they only rate neutral for running, as the soles are also customisable, if you need that, and have an expert to hand who can do it.
  • Thanks! I will check it out!

My gel insoles were about £8!
  • Turns out there is no Good Feet near me. Not even in my state actually. Any other good similar businesses maybe in the Northern Ga area. I'm still searching on my own of course but if anyone has had a good experience with something they used I am open to suggestions!
