Diabetes and High Cholesterol
Just wondering about how many pounds you lost before you were able to get off of your diabetes and high cholesterol meds? And is that something you just did, or do you ask your doctor if it's ok? I just was diagnosed with pre-diabetes and put on meds about 3 months ago. And I have high cholesterol but am not yet on meds. I need to lose 23 lbs. and am hopeful once I do, my sugar and cholesterol levels will get back into range.

some people will be able to get off meds for high cholesterol by losing weight and finding the right diet. for me I have familial hypercholesterolemia which means even with diet and exercise my cholesterol will be high.so I am back on the meds. I had no idea I had this type and went off meds for cholesterol for a few years and no matter what diet I tried my cholesterol didnt go down as far as it should have. as for those who are diabetic it all depends on the person and the type of diabetes they have, and the possible underlying causes(its not always caused from being overweight and so on).Its possible you may be able to get off of them, but everyone is different so there is no way to tell until after you lose the weight and go from there.0
