    With time, you'll be able to run a mile and more. I couldn't run for 2 minutes straight without pain when I started, but can do 10k on a good day without stopping now. There's not enough time to be able to run it all, but the run/walk scenario is perfectly acceptable and gets you out there.

    You're braver than me though. I haven't gone for a half yet.

    Congrats on signing up for a half! I'm also one of those who's scared to sign up for anything that far yet. I just ran my first 10k this year, but have been working on improving my 5k times as well. My goal is to get under 1hr for 10k, but posts like this start to get me thinking about signing up for a half next year! :)
