Can anyone help me out here? If my bmr is 1947 daily calories and my activity is minimal, why is my daily goal for maintaining weight 2510 calories? I feel I might gain a lb. a week if I follow this.

BMR is the energy expenditure if you were in a coma, once you move, it goes up. If you are counting your calories accurately, the 2510 is a pretty reasonable start. Try it for a few weeks and see what happens. Inaccurate calories counts is one of the most common causes of things not working. Weighing food is more accurate than measuring cups, but if you are less accurate with your intake, then aim for a little less. See what happens over a few weeks and adjust up or down based on results. For a 24 y/o male who is inactive? That sounds about right (depending on height and weight, of course).0
