Surgery needed?

I want to pose this question to you guys. I have a tear in the tendon of my ankle and the doctor suggest surgery. The question is that if I try on my own to really let it heal do you think it would? Or should I have the surgery and basically wait 3 to 6 weeks and get it to heal that way? Reason why I'm asking is that this would be my first ever surgery and I'm actually afraid of it. My mom basically doesn't trust doctors at the same time the research shows that this kind of injury just gets worse. I forgot to ask if it was a partial or complete most likely a partial tear since I still have full control of my foot. Please I need advice.

MFP isn't the ideal place to be searching for medical advice - these kind of questions are better suited for your doctor whom defiantly knows what he/she is talking about!
You don't want to go making a medical problem worse by leaving it untreated if a doctor has advised otherwise.
All the best.

Honestly, listen to your doc!
He/she had years of medical training and experience to give you the best medical help possible.
