introduction

Hello. I am a full time pastor who is recovering from a spinal injury and have been using My Fitness Pal for about a month.

I am a former competitive Bodybuilder/Power-Lifter that competed at a body weight of 325 with a 32 inch waist. Injured during my military service, and again in my secular career, I struggle to lose weight due to injury....

On top of the spinal injury I have developed a disease of the spinal cord which limits leg movement...I am working with a neurologist, osteopath, clinical dietician, weight loss physician, and a orthopedist to find the best solution for me....my dietician suggested My Fitness Pal to me as a journal to keep track of all the calories I consume in a day

All this being said, My Fitness Pal is probably the BEST tracker I have used in the last 10 years....my goal is to compete again and at 62, I feel well enough to do so.....I have a long way to go but I will not give up....it's not in my DNA to do so and I hope to be an active Pastor again next July 2017...

Best wishes to all who are on this fitness journey....

God Bless.....

    Hello!

I also have a spinal injury due to a low back injury at work back in 2006. It has been difficult for me to lose weight since the back injury. It took almost 3 years to have my low back fusion to be done, then I have still been limited. I still have one level that is torn, so I am disabled. Exercise is hard for me to do. I basically walk, but I am limited to the time frame (amount of time) that I can walk at one time. I love the MFP app. I had my low back fusion done in 2009 and then I had gastric bypass in 2012. I have lost 80 some pounds. I fluctuate around 4 pounds. I have to lose at least 20 pounds in 9 weeks. I started my protein shake meal plan again, but I will "graze" on a carrot stick (baby carrot) or a couple cucumber slices on between my meals, then I will eat a small dinner. I am sincerely hoping that this helps. I know that before I had my gastric bypass surgery, I was only to have 4 to 5 shakes a day, sugar free jello, that's it. I lost 13 pounds in 2 weeks.

I wish that I could find the food list like I used to be able to use until I got my iPhone and I refuse to pay $10 a month for premium because I truly cannot afford to pay any other expenses.

Nice to meet you and I wish you mush success.

    Lori
