Hi guys! Is it possible to lose 5 kg in one month? I started here at MFP at 100.6 kg and now I'm at 98 kg. The doctor had advised me to lose weight and she said that I should try losing 5 kg per month since I'm diagnosed with PCOS. Been taking Primolut N also which I think makes me retain water because the last few days I don't see any changes in the scale.

That's 11 pounds a month. That's not a safe rate of weight loss. Count your calories, weigh your food and aim for 1-2 pounds per week. And perhaps a new doctor?0

During my first 16 week, I lost 15 kg, so if a month is 5 weeks, 5 kg is possible. That works out to about 2 lbs/week.0

Yes, it's possible, for the first month. You can expect to lose up to 1% of your body weight per week, so the amount you can lose, will be smaller as you get smaller. That said, you won't be able to see a steady loss on the scale from day to day. You will need a month of reliable data points to see a real trend. This makes it crucial that you track your intake correctly. Weigh everything you eat, check entries for errors, and log everything, honestly and consistently.
I guess you want to lose a bit. If so, it's important that you stick to a calorie deficit. To be able to stick to a calorie deficit, you have to not overdo it. I don't know your height and age, but around 1450 calories may be right for you, and never go under 1350. You won't be able to do this if you are hungry. You will get hungry if you eat too little. And you won't lose any faster anyway.0 -
You can safely lose 1% of your total body weight per week.
So that puts you around 4kg in one month at your current weight.
It's important to note, however, that most people lose quite a bit of water weight when they first begin a calorie deficit. This is not fat, but you might will likely notice a difference in your weight.0 -
I am 167 cm.
I started tracking my weight at 100.3 kg 3/08/2016 and today my weight is 93.9kg.
I lost 6.4 kg in 6 weeks.
I eat 1200 calories on average without exercise.
I lost 4 kg the first 4 weeks then no change for 2 weeks then about 2 kg in 8 days.
I hope it gives an idea of what is achievable.

With your weight it sounds about right to me. The smaller you get, the less weight you would lose weekly. Calculate 1% of your weight for a weekly goal base number. Every one and BODY is different. Great luck to you! It sounds like your under a doctorsaid care so I would trust what the person with the degree says.0
