I am currently 22 weeks pregnant and still attending crossfit classes so my fitness is overall not bad however I think in the next coming weeks I am going to have to cut down drastic on these. I am thinking of joining back to the gym as I want to keep active and not lose too much muscle (maybe try and gain or keep toned at least). Anyone have any workouts in mind? TIA

I too worked out until I delivered....lifted weights, etc.

My thoughts is that you can still continue cross fit, but just take it easy and listen to your body. Don't lay on your back, because it cuts O2 to the baby.

There's no reason why you cannot keep up your current routine even with pregnancy (with modifications as you move along).

Most doctors actually recommend continuing your current workouts bc it helps with delivery and recovery.

As far as I know, the current recommendations for pregnant women are that if you're not having complications, you can continue your current regime so far as you're able (but as serapel said, avoid lying on your back). I think it's not advised to start anything new (say if you don't run, pregnancy isn't a good time to start!) but if you're already active then maintaining it is good.

You can modify or substitute exercises when you need to, and you might be more inclined to do higher reps with a lower weight (I assume as a cross-fitter a lot of your workouts are low-rep heavy stuff?). Further along in your pregnancy you might also find that you prefer to use machines rather than free weights, as it gives you a bit more support and is a bit safer (supports your back, no balance issues). You may also prefer to do some exercises seated that you otherwise would have done standing (eg shoulder press, bicep curls).

Speak to the cross-fit instructors (or your doctor) about it  they should have some insight there. If it's currently something you really enjoy and you enjoy the atmosphere, have friends, good routine, etc then continuing that, modifying as needed, might be the way to go
