I'm trying a new eating approach, high protein plant based foods. Im not vegetarian nor vegan but I want to eat more protein from whole plant based foods and eat less meat. The problem is meeting my protein intake with plant based foods. Any ideas and is there any one on a whole food plant based regime?

    Beans and soy, I agree.

Tofy, egg whites, lentils and chickpeas are great sources of protein, not to mention spouts like alpha-alpha, spouts of lentils, soy. All great!

I do "vegetarian" 3x per week and I eat a lot of lentils and legumes...things like oats and quinoa are also good sources of veg protein...I also eat eggs and egg whites. Adding other things like, for example, potatoes to my curried red lentils adds a bit more protein, etc. I'm not big on soy products and things like tofu.

All that said, I also don't have the super lofty protein goals that a lot of people have and tend to just think a lot of it is just a bit trendy...as an active person I think I need more than the RDA, but I seemingly don't really need some of the out there goals that I see people having...plus I get more on "meat days" which is usually fish.

Broccoli, legumes, quinoa, nuts & nut butter, PB2 (that's lower fat peanut butter powder which is great for smoothies), seeds like sesame & chia, & edamame. I'm a vegetarian & also try to have a hefty amount of protein per day as it seems to help with weight loss & to keep me satiated. In addition to these foods, I include higher protein breads & pasta like Protein Plus pasta as well as small amounts of cheese, almond milk, occasionally eggs, soy once in a while, & 2% Fage yogurt which has the highest protein I've been able to find. Even with all of this, I wasn't getting quite enough protein so I added a good whey protein with nothing in it except lecithin (http://norcal-organic.com/products/whey-1) & added it to my morning smoothie. (I can't taste the whey in it, but it packs a protein punch.) With all of this, I am able to hit 100g of protein a day with no meat or fish.

Make a yummy 5 bean chili and add 2 servings (for 1 portion) of nutritional yeast and 1/2 cup of quinoa to it. If you still wish to add some animal products to this meal, add some ground meat to it and top it off with sour cream for a bit more of a protien kick.
