How long would you hold cookies for a friend?

As requested, I bought four packages of cookies for a friend, to be reimbursed upon return home. After having them sit in my place for two weeks (she was too busy - lives 5 minutes away), my husband and I ate a package. They've been here a month and a half now. I know I should've left them alone, but having them here was just too tempting. I let her know we ate one, apologized, and stuck the others in a closet. I've tried contacting her, but no response. How long would you say I'm expected to hold them? Are they mine now? How long could you hold out?

They're yours. Eat them4

She must be really mad because she couldn't stop talking about the cookies. Not sure what the timeframe is before you forfeit something like that; based on her excitement, I figured she'd get them within a week, max.0

I get life happens, but girl please. A month is ridiculous when you are that close to each other. You snooze, you lose - I say treat yo self! COOKIE PARTY!1
-
I figure after a month they'd be stale, but anyways, since she never reimbursed you for them then they're still technically yours. Why didn't she buy them herself in the first place?1

What kind of cookies? I think that's what we'd all really like to know. Please describe them.... slowly... mmmmm....cookies....

Depends on the kind of cookie...I'd hold most, but if they're peanut butter, they're fair game!0

i would have eaten the first box after 24 hours
then i would have chastised myself and thrown away the rest
then i would blame the friend for asking to 'hold these cookies for me' because are u serious who does that to a friend

Depends on what kind of cookie. If it was one of my faves, they'd probably only last a couple days in my house. lol0

This is so weird.0 -
For someone 5 minutes away who can't be bothered to get them in a month and a half or respond? I might give her one more chance, "hey, I've still got these cookies, if you want them I need you to pick them up by X or I'll assume you no longer want them."
I'd also put her on flake protocol, which would involve her paying me in advance if I were ever to do something like that for her again (then I would just drop them at her house since they were already paid for and it *is* only 5 minutes away).
<Edit due to not seeing what kind of cookie before posting>1 -

There's no peanut butter oreo's in Canada?? Well if you ever needed a reason to immigrate, that'd be it. Do you have any friends in the US that could ship some to her?0 -

Oo...Peanut butter Oreos, that sounds like HEAVEN!!!
ALL three packs would have been gone the first week.0 -

I'm uncomfortable asking someone to do a favor for myself, let alone someone else. She could buy them on Amazon, but the price is outrageous.
@teetertatertango She always offers to pay me before (I think it's just to be polite), but I tell her not to worry about it because she does cancel a lot and I'd just get irritated ending up shelling out the money in the end because I wouldn't see her before leaving. Next time I will do that - no cash, no cookies. Although I honestly don't know if we're still friends, I mean, who does that?0 -
Start posting pics of you eating the cookies, and show them slowly disappearing, if she doesn't spend the 5 minutes to come get them, then that settles it.3

You could go the annoying route and text her each day when you get home for the evening "I'll be home for the rest of the evening if you want to come over and get the cookies". Every.single.day.
I love how she threw a guilt trip on you about it, too. Apparently since she won't have *her* cookies she's lost the will to drive even 5 minutes. Tell her to pick her least favorite relative and cut them out this time, or make 2 of them share.
This whole thing cracks me up.1 -
I would hold cookies for a friend for specifically 1.2 minutes. You snooze, you lose.2

Give her a time limit. She can make time but doesn't want too. Tell her if she doesn't pick them up in X days they are yours.0

WTF? Seriously, I don't get her. She's upset that you ate a box... yet still can't find 10 minutes to pick up the others? And what stops HER from sending you texts about it? You bet if I had a friend picking up something for me, I'd be there in less than a week!
That would be the last time I'd do anything for her. Text her and give her a time frame, after which just eat them, seriously.
To answer your question though - I'd text the person when I got back, then I'd probably hold them a couple months, with a reminder every week or something that the cookies are still there...0 -
I'll be honest, I think she is getting your texts but ignoring you and for whatever reason using you for cookie storage. Is she a good friend or just a friend?0
-
It's not like she paid you for them yet so I wouldn't even worry. Eat'm. This day and age you can order practically anything online. She can always get more if she really wants them, which it doesn't sound like she wants them that badly.0
-
I would have eaten them the first night she did not come get them from your house. If they are special cookies they would be gone on the ride home... from the store or dealer... lol0

Up until they turn their back.
No one turns their back on a cookie.0 -
