so she and her older brothers have been joining me for my walks (I walk fast and she can't keep up otherwise) the past week or so. Came home after a long night of Vacation Bible School last week and out she comes in shorts, tennis shoes, and with her helmet ready to go ride - so we did. I posted a picture on facebook and last night an old highschool classmate posted that she had bought her and her daughter bikes and thanks to ME for inspiring her with posts about riding with my kids. I started this in January to loose the muffin top - drove me nuts that it made my jeans stretch out and fall down. Didn't advertise I was doing it. Fun to realize that not only have I done this for myself, but now I am influencing my kids and people around me without even trying or making a big deal of things. My daughter asked me for a bowl of yogurt, strawberries and blueberries (but no lemons) for a snack the other day. Took a bit to figure out that lemons were almonds that she didn't want - but hey, it's the small things. She's learning to eat better just as part of her life. She's young and healthy and active and I hope she will stay that way learning a healthy lifestyle.

YES! I taught my 6 year old to ride his bike and immediately bought myself a bike as well- we go riding together all the time and it's been AMAZING. Ive also started to challenge myself so now Ive started going on LONG (at least 10 mile) rides whenever my son stays with his dad. Best decision Ive ever made

So nice to have an activity you can do WITH your kids. Leading by example is so important- I dont just take my son to the park and sit on a bench anymore. He sees ME being active and I love it

Great job :D It's great to see when parents set healthy examples for their kids!

Hope I remember this when it's my time around!

That's great! My 5.5 year old has started riding his bike with training wheels on our walks to the park, but he's getting too fast so I want to get a bike too so I can keep up. I'm nervous about teaching him to ride without training wheels but I guess we'll try that soon....
