I have been weighing my food for the past 10 years. I find that the Taylor brand food scale I used to love has gone downhill. I spotted this one today. Has anyone else used it? If so what do you think? Thanks! https://oxo.com/5lb-food-scale-w-pull-out-display#black

I'd be concerned that gunk would get caught in that crack. That sounds worse than what I mean. I like the ones that are completely flat and smooth so they can be wiped down easily.

Actually that's the cool part! Did you scroll down to see the other views? The display pulls away so if you have a large bowl or plate on the scale it doesn't cover the numbers. Any gunk that did get in could be easily cleaned out.

I only use mine intermittently to check if I'm way off base, but yes, trying to see under the mixing bowl is a pain.

edit: or for bread making which I rarely do because calories.

I used to have a flat scale until it gave out. Now I use this one..

It takes up more room than the flat ones, but I really like it. I've yet to put a dish on it that covers the display.

That looks good. I like the way the buttons are covered. I hate all the gunk getting around the buttons.

I have an OXO scale that is similar, but it weighs up to 11 lbs (which is handy to weigh a pot full of food -- weigh the pot first, so you can subtract and know what the food weighs) and has a tare (zero reset) button.

I'm pretty sure this is the one I have

I have a basic Starfrit scale - completely flat, cost about $10 (CDN) tares to 0 measures grams and ounces and weighs a LOT, because I havent bothered to find out its upper limit, but I havent had to yet. If it every dies ( I can replace the batteries) I wont feel bad about tossing it and getting another.
