I bought a 3.5 lb puppy from a lady on Craigslist who said she would do a return if the puppy had a health issue or genetic condition. Took the puppy to the vet the 1st Monday & the vet said the dog was underweight & thought the diarrhea she had was from the move, & she refused to eat the dry food they sent cuz she needed can food. Put her on can food & she did eat it for a week but started not wanting to eat it & still had diarrhea the who time. When she refused to eat on her own took & she started spitting up clear fluids we took her to a vet by our house. Long story short our that vet saw her 5 times, had her on support systems, 5 medicines, prescription dog food and sadly we had to put our puppy down when she was spitting up fluids, throwing up food, bleeding from her rectum, couldn't support herself to stand or sit up, & you could see the light going out of her eyes til she would try to shake her head & come around a little but then the lights would fade again. She was in so much pain at that point & our vet can spoken with 2 specialist who all agreed on the treatment our vet did & said the puppy probably had a "liver problem where no nutrients" were getting to the puppy, even syringe feeding her every hour or 2 she lost over half a lb in less than 24 hrs or she just had "failure to thrive". We had been talking to the puppy seller the whole time who said none of the other dogs were sick except on new owner said they had to deworm their puppy before it was time. I did repeat the puppies 1st shots including deworming the 1st time I took her to the vet to make sure she actually got her shot. And even after 2 doses, if the seller really did deworm, my puppy did have worms but that was not all that was wrong with her since the medicine didn't fix her. The seller is refusing to return the money we paid for the puppy, she did offer to replace her at one point when she was sick if she passed away but the seller has no puppies at this time & told someone she wouldn't have any more for 2 yrs, let alone the $1000 in discounted vet bills I have. I did get our vet to write that she had seen the puppy within 15 days of us getting her and the puppy was unfit for sale but the seller says we or our vet killed the puppy, she is mad that we put the puppy down (how do you as an animal lover not put down anything that is bleeding from the rectum, throwing up more than what goes in, and spitting up clear fluids, can't even sit or stand up, is in pain, & has no hope of getting better?). She says the CA puppy law doesn't apply to her but I saw her put up 4 different ads on Craigslist. We are still trying to be nice to the lady so I haven't told her I personally saw 4 different ads on Craigslist Craigslist will not get us copies of her ads without a court order. I'm on disability & my husband doesn't make very much money so we don't know what to do. It took my 5 yrs to save for my puppy & although we had her less than a month she has left a huge hole in our hearts. I suffer from depression & anxiety along with other medical problems & I was going to train my puppy to be a service dog for me but with her being so sick, passing away, & having this lady not do the right thing has really made my depression & anxiety worse. Sorry this is long. Any help is appreciated.

Something very similar happened to my friend in May. She didn't purchase from Craigslist, but from someone direct. The poor little guy spent two weeks in and out of the hospital, nearly dying a few times. My friend filed in small claims court; I guess tv judges must troll the public records because she was contacted by two different shows. She decided to go the tv route because she thought she'd not only have a better chance of getting her money but she could also publicly shed light on this awful lady. She won the case, the show paid her money and the little pup lived. Someone else is now suing the woman for the same practices. My friend has contacted the human society and animal control; who knows how many innocent dogs are unhealthy due to her neglect (it was all lack of vaccinations and deworming)? I'm so to hear about your little pup; I'd address this legally so she either changes her ways or is shut down. Those pups deserve better.

Absolutely!! Adopt! Adopt! Adopt! These are puppies from puppy mills. Please watch the documentries, it is very cruel. Just remember the next time you purchase a puppy from a seller or pet shop, most likely it is from a puppy mill.

Adopt a dog you have a connection with, puppy or not, they will love you. I'm sorry this happened to you. I second the motion to call the cops and ASPCA. This, unfortunately, is what happens when people value money over the security of a living being. Whatever her game is, she ought to be heavily fined...money is important to her, so hitting her in the pocketbook may be the only way to get her to stop.
