I follow the recipe on the back of Nestle chocolate chips, which is this here: https://www.verybestbaking.com/recipes/18476/original-nestle-toll-house-chocolate-chip-cookies/
I use the mini chocolate chips - that gives you more chocolatey yumminess per cookie. Freezes nicely too.

I use one from my Betty Crocker cookbook or one on the bag of a chocolate chip bag. I advise NOT to use the one on a Hershey's Chipits bag as they are runny and come out very thin.0

This is my go-to recipe. The secret is the vanilla pudding! People request these all the time.

I follow Toll House.....mostly. I add more brown sugar 1 cup vs. 3/4 cup & reduce the granulated sugar to 1/2 cup. Then I add 1/4 teaspoon of instant coffee crystals. It's not enough for a coffee taste, but it gives the cookies a richer flavor. Sometimes I grind up oatmeal and use that in place of 1 cup of flour. Kind of nutty tasting.
Use real butter OR high fat margarine. Cheap margarines often have quite a bit of water added. This makes a smooth, shiny cookie. These will always be real soft, not chewy.0 -
I ended up doing one of the recipes on allrecipes.com and they are really delicious! Thanks everyone.0
