Hey guys, I've been gaining weight constantly since returning to the gym.
I workout 6 days a week, HIIT and HST training on alternating days. I'm 6'5", male, 22 years old, 200lb & counting, and I eat no more than 2200 calories per day. All with solid fiber, protein, and fats. Mostly complex carbs too. Looking to drop back down to 185ish so i can start up a clean bulk again. Any ideas why I have been steadily gaining weight even eating at least 500 under my recommended diet? Maintenance has been calculated by MFP to about 2700, but I've seen as high as 3600 for maintenance. Any and all feedback would be appreciated

How are you measuring your calorie intake?

This. And also, if the exercise is new, you're most likely retaining water for muscle repair.

I'm going based off of the trial and error I did with caloric intake last year. Around this time in 2015, i weighed about 10lbs less, metabolism is about the same, and I maintained at about 2650, or so it seemed. This year, attempting a similar, yet different routine, with a BETTER diet, even, I gain without losing anything more, and my BMs are much more irregular.

Capaul42, I think that may partly be it, but in my experience, that weight goes away much faster than it has this time around. How long would you say you've had water retention last, in your experience? At least, to the point you gain weight while on a deficit?
