This AM has not be fun so far. Under the easy things to fix-I have mild UTI and a small kidney stone on left side.

However, was sent to ER because it appears I have something more serious going on. On the office I had a temp of 103. Doctor thinks that the staph infection from my foot has spread to my bones and muscles (osteomyelitis and myostis) which is causing all the pain.

Waiting on results back from lab work, X-rays and ct scan. If it is a severe infection, they will be putting a PICC line in tonight, keep me over night and send me home with IV antibiotics.

Holy cow I know you are now feeling not just miserable physically but mentally too. I was hoping you would come back and let us know what was up.. You and baby on board, take it really easy I truly hope that you get to feeling better soon. :):)

Thank you all. I was hoping I'd be able to come back and say I was wrong it was something stupidly simple.

We're glad you went to the Dr!

And hope you'll be on the road to recovery soon. :)

It's exactly what the doctor suspected, a systemic staph infection that is including bones and muscles. Rhys has to retake my blood because they couldn't believe my white blood cell count was so high and I want feeling dkne, except in pain. Had PICC line put in yesterday afternoon and have been getting IV antibiotics every 6 hours. Waiting for them to do round this AM to let me go home and continue IV antibiotics at home.

So sorry about all the health issues. On the positive side many women say kidney stones actually hurt worse than labor so the delivery should be cake! ;)

As for the kidney stone, as a recently diagnosed stone former myself, and having passed a 3mm earlier this year, and with a 4 and 1mm still sitting in that same kidney apparently, I've pored over the Internet for information. Without a doubt THE most useful information I found was here. That doctor has spent decades studying kidney stones and has a lot of useful information.

Adding to the other's good thoughts....

The compound in spinach and some other foods that has been suspected to cause kidney stones is oxalate. Other foods are high oxalate too, chocolate among them. I have read that almonds have been suspected to increase stone formation, but I'm not a doctor, just an avid researcher.

Getting a stone to pass the junction between your kidney and ureter is intense and unforgettable. You will sweat, scream, pace, vomit, etc. You'll wish desperately to pass out. I've had a 4 mm, and that sent me to the ER (it was my 1st and I thought it was appendicitis as it was right side) at 3 am. It got stuck above my bladder and caused a UTI so bad I needed two rounds of antibiotics and surgery to remove the stone. The UTI was so bad I nearly passed out from the agony of peeing. Afterward urologist said I had a minor kidney infection as urine wasn't exiting properly. This also hurts a lot but is milder than the stone itself.

For those who have stones, I was advised by a urologist that citric acid from citrus fruits helps prevent them. Ymmv.

Fof the OP I think you should go to the doc soon - never take abdominal or organ pain lightly, esp since you are pregnant. You need professionals for this; we are just people on the Internet.

This was my OH's experience, and his was just 1-2 mm. I didn't recognize him at the hospital at first, he looked so bad.

His risk factor was not drinking enough water.

I had a kidney stone a month before I got pregnant with my son. 2nd worst pain I've ever felt in my life, and childbirth without so much as an aspirin isn't #1. Had to go to the ER, puked in the waiting room 30 seconds after stumbling through the door, total nightmare. I didn't read much, but just from my own experience, I'd say spend the money, get to a doctor asap and let them deal with it for you. It's just not worth it.

You obviously didn't read that I already had a doctors appointment and already saw them and it's not just the kidney stone. It had nothing to do with money.

Happy to hear you are getting treatment and on the road to recovery - those is the medical profession make the worst patients simply because we diagnose ourselves without objectivity.

...and kidney stones - worst pain I've experienced and I've been shot a few times. Woke up with a horrible non specific GI pain and drove into the ER. Ended up passing a 5mm with the help of some Flomax. The treating nurse gave birth naturally and had a kidney stone and made a point to the physician "You see! It flipping hurts!".

Yes that would be why I wrote "I didn't read much". Also, this is an internet forum, so there's other people on here. I'm not the only person on this post sharing experience that may not apply to you individually, but is related and may be of interest to said other people. o.O

Except your post a me across as I was not seeking treatment because of money problems which was rather rude.

Why is that rude? I held off going to the ER because we were broke at the time. It's no judgement, it's just a reality people sometimes face. It's a reality I personally face and I don't think it makes me a crappy person because I'm not wealthy. I'm a little disturbed you seem to think that. And I'm glad that not an issue for you, but again, not directly addressed at you, there exist other people here for whom money may well be a concern. Like me. I really think you are taking this very personally when that was A. not the intention, and B. a complete misread of an innocent statement of my own experience.

Very specifically implies I am not seeing a doctor due to money.
