Hi everyone,
So I got to the gym 6 days a week. 4 out of those six days I do 30 minutes of elliptical machine after about 45mins to 1 hour of lifting.
When I log my calories I only log my cardio. Which comes from my chest strap.
What I was wondering is, am I still considered "active " by mfp standards if most of my steps comes from my cardio.
I always hit 10,000 steps at the end of the day, but most of them come from my 30 minutes of cardio.

Your activity level on MFP is your daily activity apart from exercise. If the majority of your steps come from exercise, then you wouldn't be active as MFP defines the term.

You mean for activity level?
The answer is no, but...
MFP uses a system where you normally include only daily activity other than intentional exercise in the activity level and then log back exercise AND eat the extra calories (or a portion of them). If you are doing this, then your activity level should take into account how active you are without the exercise. (If most steps are from the elliptical, possibly sedentary.)
However, if you aren't eating back exercise, then you might want to use a higher activity level, which isn't too different than the way people using the TDEE method (using a non MFP method of determining calories including average expected exercise) do.
It's all estimates, though, so the most important question is whether you are losing at the expected rate? (You may be too new to know yet, of course.)2 -
I have myself at "not very active" so that's sedentary. And I'm eating at 1200 calories a day + my exercise calories. So I guess I'll stick at that1

I stick with sedentary, because I have a desk job and then add the extra calories for exercise.1

At 1200, I would definitely eat exercise calories, so that sounds good.1
