The struggle is real

I've been using this app for almost a year. Still don't have the hang of it. Can't seem to get my macros squared away. Anyway I began using this app at the insistence of a coworker/personal trainer. I am a firefighter/paramedic who has struggled with weight issues since my junior year in high school (I'm 32 now). I went from being 6'1 and 130lbs, playing every sport possible to 200+ lbs my senior year. I stopped playing sports after getting into cars and what not but kept up my eating habits. I am now paying for all those years of bad choices. I was recently forced to improve my physical condition to promote in my career and went from 270lbs to 240lbs in 5 months. I am now gaining my weight back due to falling back into old habits. Nutrition is my downfall. I'm a meat and potatoes guy. Limited veggie tolerance. The motivation is slipping away. My wife doesn't quite like me taking time away to workout and don't have the $$$ or space to make a home gym. Anyone out there in the same boat? Need motivation/accountability partner.

Hang in there. I'm 47 and I'm in the same boat to a degree. I've tried cutting carbs etc and exercising. Seems harder and harder. Hit a wall today and decided to check this community out tonight. Thought maybe there would be some sort of motivation in here to get me over the wall tomorrow. I've changed eating habits, exercise some but my Doc says I need to do more.

Frustrating that my wife won't exercise with me and help both of us out. She needs to drop weight too but is okay with just reading all day. I was going to join the gym but know I will be pressed for time after being at work all day.

Stay motivated, evaluated ur goals, and adjust them if needed. Small changes at first. Make them the new norm. U can do it.

1st you have to do what's necessary, to keep your job; therefore your wife should be on board! Which means granting you, the time necessary; to exercise!

2nd you're able to consume anything you desire but it has to be less calories, then you burn. While you don't have to exercise, to lose weight; it allows you to consume more!

If you don't have a food scale, get 1; because many products contain, nearly 50% more calories; than the package states! Also I'd just consume 50% of any exercise calories earned because many calorie burns're highly inaccurate!

You have to be selfish with your goals sometimes. Weight loss is one of those times.

Only you can start, endure and complete your journey. Even if a loved one sets out with you... there is a very strong chance you will end up doing it on your own anyhow.

Be selfish. Do this for you and only you. Protect your exercise time - it is important.

Most importantly many people will try and persuade you to stop. Usually out of real love and devotion to you. Change is scary for them and makes them feel insecure. Keep that in mind. Most people won't understand you are doing this for you, and you alone.

Keep the faith. You CAN do it.
