I honestly don't know how to squat with heavy dumb bells... I know the generic squatting with a barbell but with regards to dumb bells, I can't exactly lift them onto my shoulders to balance them at the top nor can I just place them dangling on either side because my shoulder width leg placement causes my knees to smack into my arms! Help!! ????????

May I ask why you want to use dumb bells instead of a bar?0

Do goblet squats if you don't have access to a squat rack.0

I hold them by my side and lift them to my chest as I lower into the squat. Don't know if that's the best way to do it, but it's what has always felt most natural to me.
And I use dumb bells or just the plates because I don't have a bar available.0 -

Workout at home so using dumbbells is the only viable option since if I bought a bar... I think I may trash the house ????0

Switch to a 1-legged squat. Less weight needed, and you won't have to worry about the dumbbells hitting your knees.0
