digital scale question

Hi there!
quick one for people with digital scales at home.
When I weigh in, I step on the scale more than once (to see if the reading is the same).
When it's off by a pound, I write off the weigh in and chalk it up to dehydration or something like that.
(just because the reading is most likely to be different on days after long/hard workouts).
Am I even CLOSE to being right on this?
Or not so much...?
