Does working out later in day vs earlier in day help your loss/appetite?

So I've always hit the gym--hard but obviously you can't outexercise a diet if you're constantly going over calories. I do IF and have done it for years but it has also made me used to bigger portions, overeating, and misunderstanding "full/satisfied". I can easily eat 1000 calories after a workout and as my first meal and going over 2k a day is no problem....but I find my appetite isn't as voracious when I don't workout although I like starting my day that way. I have worked out a few times in the evening and while I hate working out with any food in my system because i feel more sluggish, it does blunt my appetite a little and make me want to eat better at night--my hardest struggle time.

Any experiences with working out later or earlier to help appetite/keep you on track the best?

We are all so different :) I workout early in the day (5:30a) because I then don't HAVE an appetite until later in the day - my 1st meal is at 1p!

I workout in the afternoon because I feel I have more energy at that time vs. morning workouts. PM exercising does help me stay on track because if I eat "junk" for lunch and afternoon snacks, I notice a difference in my energy level. It also keeps me mindful of how I fuel my body for dinner after the workout - I tend to make better choices.

I'm pretty sure that would be dependent on the individual

This is me, too. I never eat soon after waking. If I start off my day with a 5 mile fasted run I won't really be hungry at all until about Noon. On the mornings I don't run I'm hungry by about 9am.

    It's all individual, really.

I do cardio in the morning because I need to run on an empty stomach. It also does help blunt my appetite for the day.

I lift in the afternoon after my first meal (which I eat around 2:00 or so) because I don't do well lifting on an empty stomach.

Throughout the day, I usually take little strolls here and there to keep my joints from stiffening up, but they're not really "exercise".

    Hi:
I concur with other posters. Each individual has his(her) own approach that works for him(her).
There is no better way, only the way that works for you at this particular juncture in your life
You have to find out which way is better for you
    Good luck

Stating ahead of time that I am NOT a morning person.

If I don't get up and get moving right away, no down time, no relaxing activity, I'm useless for the rest of the day. I get in maybe 7 or 8000 steps on a day where I have a relaxing morning. But I can get 12-14,000 easy and a huge calorie burn bump if I get up, immediately get dressed and leave the house. It doesn't even seem to matter f I have nothing to do when leaving, I always seem to manage an "active" by MFP standards day that way. It also makes me not hungry late afternoon when on relaxing morning days, that's when I feel the need to eat everything in sight.

I've worked out at practically every possible scenario of time, each for a good length (couple of months or longer). Personally I've never really ever thought about whether it affected my hunger or not being that I've been about the same weight since my late 20's.

Early morning fasted workouts. Can't beat 'em.

Early morning fasted cardio for me (5:30 a.m.), I am one that is not hungry after this. I can delay "break fast" for quite a while. On both lifting and cardio days, I do lifting 3 to 3 1/2 hours after cardio, a small snack before the lifting. I have been doing this for well over two years..

This is all personal preferences and what you can train your body to do.

Schedule your work outs for a time you won't skip them. Other than that it is totally individual.

I usually work out mid day and/or late evening. Doesn't affect how hungry I am during the day or night.

My workout times are when it suits me not related to appetite
Tried before bed time, hated it as left me wide awake and ready to go
I like morning workouts, but now moved to lunchtime when joined the gym
