This topic comes up a lot. Here is a good article by Tom Venuto. And it explains that even though it may be a slower process that you still don't need to go on a starvation diet and that you should accept a slower loss (1 pound to .5 pounds a week). This article can be helpful in finding the right deficit and calorie goals for yourself. Also helpful for small men.

Good food for thought. This comes up on the forums a lot, and it's important for people to look realistically at their personal situation and be willing to have patience.

This topic does come up a lot. Often there are recommendations for petite women to eat very low amounts. And sometimes petite women that are close to goal weight don't understand why it is better to have a slower weight loss.

I'm petite and have not personally had issues with weight gain, but I have always been vigilant with my fitness. I can not restrict calories low. But, maybe this is because I'm already slim. I eat more than the recommendations for someone of my size and age. If I do lose weight it is more like a pound a month, and I am fine with that. I also probably have a pretty high N.E.A.T. because I'm an energetic and active person.

I focus on weight lifting and strength training for exercise. I get cardio from walking, playing, dancing. Cardio is just a built in part of my life, and I don't worry about how much or how little I get. I also do flow yoga.
