Hi - This is my first time on MFP. Anyone 50+ trying to lose weight? It's more difficult to lose as you get older. Looking for a partner in crime for support.

there are plenty of us out here ... My thought is that it is easier to aim for fitness goals rather than weight loss goals given that after the age of 50 we can lose up to 20% of our muscle mass every year if we don't do something to retain that muscle mass... also a restrictive calorie diet at our age would see an additional loss of muscle mass... something we older folks really can't afford... things that you can concentrate on here... exercises that will increase your cardio... healthy food habits... increase your flexibility and your over all strength... do those things... and you won't need to lose weight...

I walk at least 3 miles every day. Some days I do reps with 3 lb. weights. My weight wasn't going up but it also wasn't going down. So now I'm trying to reduce calories to see what happens.0
