Well there was a whole post here I don't know what happened to it!
I was just wondering if this recipe seemed healthy or has too many healthy fats and it is that even possible?
INGREDIENTS:
1 cucumber (peeled and de-seeded plus additional cuke for garnish)
1 tablespoon onion (minced)
1 avocado, peeled
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 cup water
2 dash of Sea Salt
1/4 teaspoon Chili Powder
1 dash of Cayenne Pepper0 -
What do you think? Is it all for you? Fat has 9 calories per gram. If it fits in your calorie goal and allows you to hit an adequate amount of protein for the day as well, it's not too much.0
-
It's only too many if it goes way beyond your calorie and macro goals. Otherwise it looks fine to me.0
-
Yes! It's all for me!! I love it and it fits into my day.
I seriously started thinking about it at a red light today thinking wow that's a lot of olive oil and a lot of avocado and one sitting or maybe it isn't I'm not sure that's why am asking.
I said to myself "I am Going to ask those smart people on MyFitnessPal message boards' they'll know"1 -

I think it's a lot personally. But I can't fit 300 calories worth of avocado and 120 cals of olive oil in my day easily, even in maintenance.
ETA: and that has nothing to do with fat. I feel good on high fat.0 -
Put it in to the recipe builder. You will see what that fat does to the calorie count. Me, I'd fit in all the fats I can afford.1

Recipe builder - doubled the recipe - 3 servings =243 calories so I'm okay with that
Thanks!0 -

Is this a recipe for a salad dressing? It just seems like it would be perfect for this, after a whiz with the hand blender.
Speaking as someone who ate 1/2 of an avocado with my one egg this morning, no, it's not too much healthy fat, imo.

Avocados vary in size, you should weigh it. I think the person missed that you were dividing 2 avocados into 3 parts, though.
I think it's fine, it just depends on the rest of your day and week and so on and total calories. I usually eat half an avocado at a time, but I've been known to eat half at breakfast and half at dinner. I don't think a tbsp of olive oil in day is that much. It's a lot of calories for something not that filling for me, so I limit it when calories are lower, but not because I consider it unhealthy.1 -
It's only too many if it goes over your calorie goals.
Are you measuring your avocado by grams, though? Eyeballing it by size could have you getting the calorie count pretty off.0 -
That sounds like a waste of a potential guacamole to me1

Never do this
Weigh the avocado and the oil, log them by USDA database values ..log all other ingredients the same way
How on earth would you know what someone else calls a medium avocado?
Weigh the entire dish in grammes, divide by 100 to get calories per 100g...log as how much you eat0 -
And I posted some advice but it's waiting for "approval"
Because this site is bananas
Now banana and avocado that could work0 -

I once had a recipe that made a pie filling with mashed banana and avocado that was sweetened with something.... I can't quite remember what. It was actually quite delicious. It had a lot of lime juice in it.0 -
I posted something pretty non controversial I thought, but it is also waiting for approval. Weird.0

You should probably weigh those.0 -

There are spam filters that are catching specific word/number combinations. That is why certain things are awaiting approval. Its a work around for some of the foreign spam (and has worked nicely).
OP, I would try to use a entry that uses grams and weigh the avocado. They are very calorie dense and tend to weigh more than you think.
ps - all post were approved0 -

It sounds fine to me...and also, when you're talking about "healthy" you should really be evaluating the entirety of your diet...all of your meals, snacks, etc not individual food items. In the context of your diet as a whole you should look at this and determine if it's going to make you go over your calorie targets...is it going to cause you to go over in total fat for the day, etc...it's that bigger picture that matters, not the individual sit down.0 -
Okay.0

234 for an avocado is reasonable but yeah, weight that. They can REALLY vary and they are calorie dense.0

Great advice everyone! I prob should be wrighing the avocados rather than just judging by size, which I will start doing
my posts all showed up at once didn't realize they were being approved. I thought because I used an Emoji or two (!!) they were being deleted.
I eat pretty healthy throughout the day breakfast just throws me because I'm so hungry when I wake up I'm trying to find something that will fill me up and be super healthy. I'm allergic to eggs and Have an intolerance to gluten so instead of fruit everyday (not a big fan) I'm playing around with different combinations of things.
Thanks again to everybody who responded. I appreciate it0
