Water intake

I've been making a conscious effort this month to drink lots more water, I can go all day with hardly anything to drink so at the start it was pretty hard but now it's just become my daily routine...anyway... I've been drinking between 3 to 4 litres a day, I don't really drink hot drinks, if I do it's a small hot chocolate and I only drink diet fizzy drinks if I'm out in place of not drinking alcohol. My question is, is that too much? Should I be drinking as much as I can or like cals is their an optimum amount depending on the person that allows it to aid in weight loss?

Thanks :-)

Wow that seems like a lot - I drink 2.5L and find that is just right for me. When I am at the gym I keep hydrated by drinking BCAAs. I guess water intake differs for everyone - but you should never be "thirsty". You don't have to make yourself sick drinking so much water either. Great work for changing your habit of not drinking!

Pale pee is a good indication... if you're peeing clear then you're possibly over hydrating.

Oooh ok. TMI but it's always completely clear!

    I'll try reducing down to 2.5-3 :-)

I drink about 1 gallon a day, more if I've exercised. That comes out to 4+ liters. Nothing wrong with it.

Water doesn't aid in weight loss...water aids in staying hydrated which is healthy...not everything is about weight loss...weight loss isn't the be all and end all of health.

Staying hydrated is important and allows your body to function optimally...just stay hydrated, there's no magic number...
