More exercise?

Currently I'm working out for an hour, 6 days a week. About 30-35 minutes of cardio and the rest of the time is comprised of strength training (weights), yoga and floor work. On my rest day I typically try to do something to "busy" myself...cleaning, gardening, walking around the mall...whatever. BUT, I have a job where I sit behind a desk for about 8 hours a day. I try to get up at least once an hour to walk around, but I still feel like I have a pretty sedentary day. After my exercising, I typically park it on the couch for the rest of the night. I sleep around 8 hours a night and I tend to keep my calories in check (eating between 1500-1700 daily), although sometimes I'll go over on weekends. (Sigh.)

All of this being said, should I bump up my exercising to two hours a day? I know that if I'm at the gym, I'll stay there or make an effort to go twice daily. It's just weird, even though I work out often, I still feel like a slouch. (Also, it'd be awesome to lose some more weight!!) I just ask b/c I don't want to over do it...

**Disclaimer: I live in a VERY warm/humid climate, so it's pretty easy to hang out in A/C all day...

For what purpose? It sounds like you're doing plenty.

If you're simply trying to avoid the negative effects of being sedentary, then (from what I understand) the getting up regularly to move around during the day will do more than adding more workouts.
  • I agree I think you're doing lots! Just stay committed! :)
