I decided to set my protein goal at 40% about 3 weeks ago as I feel better with that and not the carbs. This week i'm finding myself with a spare tire coming back ( the one above the belly button) I do play alot of golf and MFP says I'm burning around 11 to 1200 cals per round~~ which i think is high~~so I think my question is can too much protein make fat? My loss is slow and very stalled,
I'm also hypo thyroid but I had been losing around 1 lb every 2 weeks or so..my diary is open and yes I do have wine several xs per week!!:ohwell: honest feedback please! & thanks

Can too much protein make fat? Yes, too much of anything will eventually turn into fat... with the only exception being water
I would personnaly not go behond 30% of protein, since I would be affraid to be missing on a lot of essential stuff only fruits, veggies and legumes can give you. General guideline recommend to be eating 5-10 portions a day. You could try to get to 5 without upping your carbs ratio too much by chosing, say, 4 portions of vegetables for 1 portion of fruits, and see if it helps.0 -
I glanced at your diary and you are not eating too much protein, wondering what percentage your carbs are? I eat 100-130 grams of protein a day. Some people believe that is too much, and everyone is different. I have lost my weight and am currently maintaining it. I can tell you my protein is always equal to or higher than my carbs. You need to limit your carbs to healthy ones, not processed or fast food. Your sodium looks good, and your water looks good. How is your sugar intake? Have you measured? maybe it could be bloating? I know certain carbs can make you bloated. Try to avoid bloating foods like dairy, greasy foods, sugars and starches.
Just play with around with your diary, I plan my meals each morning so I know that i wont go over!
Good Luck to you!!0 -
thanks~~ as far as sugar goes I have never been a fruit eater..but lately I love love berries with greek yogurt, iv'e also been doing a whey protein drink with skim milk last few weeks..carbs are set at 30%~ fat is at 30%~ cook all my own meals to keep sodium & fat down,,except very ocassional fast food~~i went back through my diary to see what I was eating when I was losing and the protein was much lower so..maybe grasping at straws??0

If you were losing at a lower protein then thats what I would do. We are made differently and what works for one may not work for the other. Play around with it and see what works for you, the important thing is dont give up and you will find what works for you!!0
