Opinions wanted!

Hello All,

Just a little background info...I'm here again on MFP for the third time. The first time I dropped close to 50lbs over the course of 6 months and then quickly gained it back within a year. The second time I didn't commit and stayed in a "yo yo" period. Now I'm back with a ton of motivation and I'm ready to roll! Just looking for various opinions on caloric intake and exercise, here are my current stats and plan:

Age - 25
Female
5'5
SW- 155
CW - 139
GW - 122 - 125
Calories alternate between 1,500 and 1,000 very similar to an IF type lifestyle.

I do an intense bootcamp class three times a week and do yoga two to three times a week.
Any other similar folks out there? Looking for friends, opinions on my regime and any advice you've got!

Thanks in advance MFP community!

You did it once, you know what to do.

Welcome back. Maintenance is a whole different problem, you may want to start reading in the Maintenance section of this forum before you actually get there. :)

I've been in maintenance for nine years after losing 70+ pounds. The first couple years I thought, "Psh. I got this. I know what to do, I don't need to log food or any of that stuff."

Not true. I do need to log food, otherwise I gain 10 pounds *just like that*. Not worth it to me to have to keep losing that same 10 pounds over and over.

Logging my food is something I'm doing daily again, and I have been for a year. It is the only thing that works for me and it takes me all of five minutes a day. Well worth it.

Honestly I feel uncomfortable if I can't log and weigh my foods because I have no idea how much I am eating. I don't know how I got by for so long without my food scale.

In regards to this "Just looking for various opinions on caloric intake and exercise, here are my current stats and plan"

    1) Just setup MFP and go.
    2) It worked or you were doing something similar before? Do that, but apply something different in the terms of longevity, long term and break the yo yo behavior.

The great news is that you've done it before and are already on your way again this time. I think that the biggest thing you may need to work on is figuring out how to do this sustainably. If you cannot see yourself doing what you're doing for the next 1-3 years, then you need to change it up because what you're doing is not sustainable. Being able to stick to something is the biggest factor for success. This is a long-term lifestyle change...not a short-term thing. Does that make sense to you?

My stats are very close to yours. I started this weight loss effort about 10 weeks ago, and I've lost about 11 lbs. For the past two weeks I've been hovering at around the same weight, just trying to break through into the 130s!!

I've absolutely realized that I will likely have to log my food forever. If I don't keep a tally of what I've had, it's way too easy for me to just ignore it and keep on eating. I'm also trying not to sweat it when the scale is not moving. I'm taking this opportunity to learn more about my body and weight fluctuations. For instance, I'm curious now to determine if I, like a lot of women apparently, gain water weight around ovulation. I've never noticed before, and now I've got all this data to look at! But I'm a numbers freak!
