Question for people who have competed in a bodybuilding competition!!!

So I was wondering how this sodium and water manipulation works? I've read several different articles about how to do macros, calories, changes in exercise, etc. However, everything I read about peak week about water and sodium manipulation contradicts the next article I read. I was wondering what your opinions and experience with this is. What exactly did you do and what worked and didn't work? I know everyone's body is different but I'm just curious.

I'm not planning on doing a bikini competition right now but hoping to over the summer (I'm a teacher so I can come to school too bronze and buff HAHA). I'm attempting to do a mock bikini prep to see how my body reacts to certain things. I plan on getting a coach to help me with nutrition and posing, however, since I don't plan on competing until summer, I'm going to hold off on it.

Any and all suggestions are welcome! Thank you!!!

I compete in women's bodybuilding. It's actually best to test the water, macro and sodium manipulation out before getting to peak week. You may find if you are lean enough you don't need that at all. Most people find that increasing carbs the day before or two days before the show gives great results without doing the crazy water manipulation stuff.

There isn't really one way to do it and some of the methods are potentially dangerous. The show I looked the best at I didn't do anything special. I just increased carbs slightly the week of, no changes to water or sodium, and had a frappuccino an or so before the show.

Really? That's great to know. That's another reason why I wanted to get people's opinion. I didn't want to deprive my body of water (doesn't sound fun) or do something that could be damaging.

Thank you so much for your answer!
