So I consulted with an MD also in functional medicine and she is a big proponent of the mind-body connection. She encouraged me to look into a more ayruvedic style of eating, no meat in evenings, biggest meal in afternoon, foods from many food groups and 6 different tastes with each meal, eating something in the morning for adrenals....I have intermittent fasted for years but have hormone and sleep issues, she suspects PCOS too because I have no periods...even though I lost it years ago from dieting and tons of exercise..but have gained all of it back and more.
I know most on here purely are counting calories and getting results but wondering if anyone here uses an approach incorporating any of these principles and if it has helped. I am also starting to use turmeric as I am always sore and seeing if it helps.
I have issues with overeating, binging, etc. that I am also working on so I know there is no miracle. However small steps to feeling better is fine with me. It is really hard for me to not be stressed when I'm hungry and be able to relax about losing weight. Trying to lessen the extremes with dieting so i'm not eliminating carbs but I've only lost weight by extreme measures in the past...intermittent fasting being one of them....don't think I will do well eating in the morning again... so we'll see.
TL:DR; Has ayruvedic eating/lifestyle helped you in any way?

Is she licensed to practice aryuvedic medicine? If not, I would strongly suggest seeing a licensed one to get his/her input. I haven't done it, but I do acupuncture with a traditional Chinese medicine doctor. We work on balance, diet, and overall lifestyle as well. Some of the concepts are similar to aryuvedic medicine. Easily best decision ice made In Regards to my health and I hope it works for you too1

Have you looked to see if there's a mfp group? You might get more responses from a more focused group. I have not done it, but it sounds like a big change to take on all at once. I like your small steps to feeling better thought.
I'm a big believer that small changes practiced faithfully and consistently produce the biggest changes over time, whereas dramatic changes can fizzle out. Maybe pick one thing that lessens the extremes and make that a change you intend to keep for life? When it's second nature, adopt another small thing?1
