I am thinking of having a cheat day. I am bulking and training has been going good. I was thinking of not doing 10 k but instead 5. I might do 10 k lol.
What's your cheat day numbers.

A holiday meal for me about 3000 calories, it's crazy fun! I can't eat much more then that, I'm pretty stuffed.0

They vary, but 10K would be a minimum. The idea of a cheat day for me is to eat whatever I want and as much as I want. Usually I end up around 15K-20K, but early on, I had a cheat day of around 27K.0

I dunno. Maybe 136K for me.1

Do I hear a 150k? Going once, going twice!1

I'm not bulking, but not even sure what a cheat day is when bulking. Are you saying you stick with a certain surplus and you are going to go over that surplus? Is that 5K or 10K over your normal calorie intake or total. If total, then 5K doesn't sound like much of a cheat. But then again, I don't know your size and activity level, or your appetite... maybe 5K or 10K is a huge surplus for you or would make you founder.1

Thats a good idea! Maybe that's why I am not loosing weight - my calories are too low and I am going into starvation mode. I had better up my game if I am ever going to get abs.
155K or bust!3 -
Why would you have a cheat day on a bulk? The idea behind a cheat is to attempt to keep hormone levels from changing. You don't have that issue bulking. I saw your 10k calorie challenge thread. If you're just looking for an excuse to pig out that's fine, but you're not going to be minimizing fat gains and you will end up with poor nutrient partitioning.2

Wouldn't you have to be eating pretty much non stop to hit 27 thousand calories in one day?? Seriously, how do you even do that? (and before you say I can't possibly understand again, ex-bulimic, so I get binging to the point of bursting. I'm pretty sure I still never hit anywhere near that kind of calorie count even with repeat cycles within a day).2 -

Same. I am 9999.9999.9999% sure I never hit 27k in my bulimic days either.1 -

Pretty sure I would bust at 155K.
OP, my max that I tracked was 5K, but I felt pretty sick. Lot's of candy and desserts.1 -

To put it in perspective, 27k calories are with the most dense thing you could possibly ingest, 3 liters of pure oil. So that's the absolute minimum amount of food one has to consume to get to such an amount.
It's the equivalent of 40 bags of chips.
18 kg of fries.
50 Big Macs.
Over 500 Oreos.
965 Peeps.
I'm running out of calorie dense foods here.
It's about 10 days worth of normal food for reasonably active man.4 -

I feel like hurling just *reading* that!0 -
Cheat day and bulk does not compute. Just eat.2

A lot of donuts, a couple boxes fruity pebbles with milk, 4 lbs. (precooked weight) spaghetti with sauce and meatballs, a couple pizzas and cheese sticks, 4 cakes (whatever normal size pan is... 6x9?) frosted, some brownies, a bunch of cookies, ice cream, and 4 lb. bags of chips.
My appetite is incredible, so any deficit (even maintenance and even a smaller surplus) feels like I am starving. After months of starving and restricting, a cheat day means I don't have to be hungry and I don't have to forego any food.0 -
How does all of that work with your Diabetes?0

stevencloser wrote: »How does all of that work with your Diabetes?
The same as if I had eaten a ton of fruit instead - I take both basal and bolus doses calculated based on net carbs regardless of the source of those carbs.
Slightly differently than if I ate nothing and fasted that day because if I had eaten nothing that day, I would have taken only basal insulin.0 -
27k calories of the things you listed is a lot of carbs. Is it safe injecting that much insulin?1

Yes, for those of us who have more education than most physicians about type 1 diabetes who know what we are doing and how to treat our disease.
Back to OP's question - what do your cheat day numbers look like?0
