Jogger/Runner advice needed!!!

So I've dabbled with jogging off and on but I've never stuck with it. This time feels different. I've been walking/jogging for a little over two weeks. I take two days off throughout the week. I wake up looking forward to my jog. For about a week though, my ankles hurt quite a bit only while I jog and a few minutes after I stop. Any advice? Is it possible that I'm just to heavy at this point? I'm currently at 382 lbs. any advice is appreciated.

Could be impact strain- very possible weight has something to do with it. Typically, running injuries/discomfort occur if distance is added too quickly.
That's just a ballpark theory. I'd check with a physician for solid confirmation and direction if it's a real problem.0 -
Were you fitted for your sneakers? If not, I suggest going to a running store and making sure you're in the right type (neutral/stability) and that (should) help with the pain you're feeling.2

I can definitely see this as a weight issue if you have ruled out acute injury or chronic injury from over use.
The more weight you lose the better this will get, so consider doing low impact for now. Low impact can still certainly help you get and stay fit as you loose weight and build strength.0 -

Good point. Many beginners see a shoe as a shoe as a shoe. But fit, arch and support can really bring additional discomfort and even injury of not fitted to your foot type/running style.0 -
1. Get fitted for some decent shoes!
2. Consider compression wear to support your ankles. I bought myself a lovely (expensive) pair of compression socks which really helped my ankles, but eventually got too tight. Then I bought a pair of generic ankle supports (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B016F59BDU/) which really do help0 -
I would suggest using an elliptical to begin with. Its easier on the joints and will help increase your fitness level.1

quite honestly possibly too much too soon. New shoes might help or you could agrovate your feet further. maybe scale back 3x per week with a rest day in between all running jogging days.
Also you may be runing or jogging too far too fast and your body just isn't capable of absorbing the extra strain.1 -

Just so I'm clear.....you've been at it for two weeks and are running 5 x weekly?
I suspect that may be part of the problem right there. Typically new runners should not be running on consecutive days. Your body goes through a lot of physiological adaptations and adequate recovery time is crucial.
On your recovery days feel free to ride your bike, swim, do the elliptical, strength train etc so that you're staying active.1 -

I had close to the same issue years ago when I was 50 lbs overweight, but it was with my knees. What I ended up doing was only run/walking 1-2 times a week. (walking on inclines and jogging on level planes. The other times I did the elliptical. I also only ran on treadmills to reduce the impact you get from running on pavement. My advise to you is to take it slow so you don't injure yourself. Overtime it will become easier on your joints.0 -

Could be any one of a number of potential causes, but with that in mind it's not unlikely that your weight contributes. Note that the contribution doesn't mean you shouldn't run, just that you need to account for it.
As others upthread, this looks more like too much, too soon. As a new runner I'd suggest only running on alternate days until your muscular system has started adaptation.
I'd support the suggestion of new, dedicated, running shoes although I'm not particularly wedded to the gait analysis suggestion. At the moment there are very few shoes that would be appropriate; Brooks Beast and similar, so gait analysis is unlikely to tell you anything useful.
Do something like swimming or cycling on non-running days
