Making big changes to the way you normally eat is difficult, but gluten free is easy if you stick to meats and veggies. If you still want to eat pasta and bread, there are plenty of GF options available. Anything in particular you need a replacement for?

I've been dealing with Hashi's for 6 years now! At the beginning I found it easiest to just eat fruit, veggies, cheese and meat. Then, once I got my symptoms under control I started to venture into the big wide world of gluten free packaged products. I have a bunch of great recipes ... depends on what you want to eat!0

Here's a recipe, since you asked for a recipe: http://paleomg.com/sweet-potato-basil-soup/
Add cooked chicken to make it a meal.
You don't have to do it in the crock pot. Stovetop is fine. Just cook until sweet potatoes are tender enough to blend up.
Gluten Free (GF) Staples:
GF Oats with milk or greek yogurt for extra protein
Eggs, omelets, frittatas
Yogurt smoothies or just plain greek yogurt with berries
I eat Cheerios, but they are not certified GF. I'm not that sensitive though.
Rice
Quinoa
Udi's bread for sandwiches (check freezer section at your grocery store)
Home-made soup (add GF rice noodles (usually made from rice) if you want noodles)
Black bean soup
Tortilla chips, corn tortillas.
Salad
Chicken, fish, beef, pork, beans
All the vegetables and fruits
Rice, quinoa.
Cauliflower rice
Want meatloaf? Use rolled oats in it instead of bread.
Breaded chicken cutlets? GF bread crumbs exist.
Freshetta makes a GF pizza. So does Udi's but it's kinda gross.
Betty Crocker has GF brownie and cake mixes.
Krusteaz has GF cornbread mix, pancake mix, and flour. Other brands out there too.
Dominos has GF pizza. So does Ledo's, Pizza Hut, and Pizzeria Uno.
Make pizza crust using riced cauliflower mixed with cheese. Plenty of recipes online.
If you see a recipe that requires just a bit of flour, you can often substitute corn meal or corn starch, depending on the recipe. It can be overwhelming. Make large batches of food so you can eat leftovers when you are strapped for time. Good luck!

I have had Hashi's for about 15 years. I don't go gluten free. I have lost 6.5 lbs for each of the last two months here on MFP. I do limit the more simple carbs and combine them with other healthy foods when I have them. Mostly to keep my blood sugar level since I have been prediabetic in the past. I am down about 18 lbs since July. I have a calorie limit of 1200 and usually do not eat back my exercise calories but do occasionally. I have no strictly off limit foods. I mostly use my Fitbit with a goal of 8k per day but often exceed that. I also do Stronglifts 5 x 5 strength training with my DH 3x per week. I will be 65 in December.
Does your doctor recommend gluten free or have you been tested and found intolerant?0
