Ok so i am finally 175 down from 297 and its taken 3 and a half years to come off lots of stalls and plateaus and falling off the wagon.
My question is im now down to the last 40 pounds should i continue with the 500 calorie deficit or do i need to modify for the last 40. My diary is open . I eat between 1700 and 1900 calories a day. Workout at least 5 hours a week sometimes 6 im 5 foot 4 and 30

As long as your logging is accurate I think you can stick with the 500 per day still. I'd switch to lower when you get to the last 15-20. I have naturally slowed now I'm at the last 25-30 with just wanting to eat a little more and being more relaxed but I just see it as a nice way to ease into maintenance, if my deficit is closer to the 500 per day some weeks then that's just a bonus.

How are you feeling at this last 40? Are you losing steady and feel you can keep going with a 1 pound loss each week till you reach say the last 20?

From experience, I would definitely slow it down at about 15 to go. This will help you ease into maintenance a lot better.

with 40 lbs to go, a 500 calorie deficit is still pretty conservative - I definitely would not decrease it to slow down yet. The only thing I would pay attention to is recalculating your BMR as you continue to lose.

    Good job, btw!

I would. Slowing down will help you preserve your muscle and start training you for maintenance.

    Congratulations! That's an amazing feat!
